It seems like just yesterday, a chubby Britney Spears was aimlessly driving around L.A. with a bad weave, a British accent and no underwear. Actually, it was a year ago - and since then, Britney has made a remarkable transformation. Thanks to the watchful eye of her father Jamie Spears and the management of Larry Rudolph, Britney has emerged once again on top and hit the first stop on her Resurrection of Britney tour - and it was a packed house, folks.

Well, the reviews are in and there doesn't seem to be a definite consensus. Some hail Britney's comeback is a success, while others are not so excited.

People magazine were among those not impressed. "While she avoided the train wreck that was her 2007 MTV Video Music Awards appearance, a visibly nervous Spears, performing in front of enthusiastic fans near her Kentwood, La., hometown, never really hit her old stride," the write. "Indeed, throughout the show's four sections, there was a lot more strutting than real choreographic feats from Spears. And there was a decided lack of joy in her performance, which felt labored at times."

Billboard was slightly more forgiving, "The Circus tour was another strong step in the right direction. Spears didn't interact much with the crowd - the only thing she uttered to the audience was 'Thank you, New Orleans' at the end of the nearly two-hour show - and appeared at times to be lip-synching. But fans didn't seem to care, screaming wildly at the first sight of Spears, who descended from the ceiling on hoops suspended by wires, wearing a short red and black ringmaster ensemble."

However, although Britney seemed to have some issues, her fans were pleased. "Despite some stumbles and several numbers in which her dancing was no more than adequate, Spears can safely call this performance a success," a review from the L.A. Times noted.
